Join the dynamic team at DGS as a Senior Systems Engineer in Northern Virginia for a highly specialized role supporting RF geolocation and cellular systems. The person we need is not a general systems engineer or a general software engineer, but someone with real hands-on experience in RF geolocation, LTE/4G/5G cellular systems, SDR-based environments, and end-to-end system integration and validation. This person should be able to work across software, RF, signal processing, and test teams and help define requirements, interfaces, integration strategy, and overall system behavior. Strong Python skills and working knowledge of C or C++ are also important. The ideal candidate will understand TDOA-related system design, timing, and synchronization concepts, and be able to translate technical needs into a complete, working system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate customer or operational needs into clear system requirements and technical definitions
  • Lead system design for RF geolocation and cellular analysis solutions
  • Define subsystem behavior, interface requirements, data flows, and timing/synchronization approaches
  • Support the design of TDOA-based workflows, including sensor coordination, timing alignment, and fix-generation concepts
  • Guide integration across RF, software, signal-processing, and test teams
  • Identify technical risks, resolve interface gaps, and drive system-level trade decisions
  • Define verification strategy, integration approach, and performance validation criteria
  • Lead technical reviews and provide hands-on engineering guidance during development and integration

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, RF systems, wireless systems, or signal-processing environments
  • Demonstrated experience defining and integrating complex RF or wireless systems
  • Strong understanding of TDOA geolocation concepts and distributed system timing/synchronization
  • Strong understanding of LTE/4G and 5G cellular infrastructure, signaling behavior, and practical 3GPP concepts
  • Hands-on experience with SDR-based system integration, bring-up, and validation
  • Experience defining system requirements, interfaces, integration approach, and verification strategy
  • Strong Python skills and working capability in C or C++
  • Ability to work effectively across software, RF, DSP, and test disciplines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting real-world RF geolocation system development or validation
  • Experience with timing and synchronization methods such as GPSDO, PPS, PTP, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting field test, system integration, or customer-facing technical validation
