We are looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing, and administering, our company’s computer networks. Your primary duties will include architecting and implementation of the data network systems, maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. You will also be working closely with the users of our network in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems. Duties include being a reference point for all IT related queries at the user level, responding to user needs in a timely manner and ensuring the optimal running of all systems, among other technical duties.
To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers, file servers, DNS / VPN severs, as well as Amazon EC2 servers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired. A candidate must be able to troubleshoot technical issues, provide timely customer feedback, and support the roll-out of new applications, among other duties. Moreover, the need to talk to customers directly may arise, as well as create written documentation, requiring excellent written and verbal communication. It is expected of you to display good interpersonal skills as you will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels. This requires listening to their technical needs, understanding their problems and implementing solutions to them.
Network Engineer Responsibilities
Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, & operating system software.
Identifying hardware and software solutions.
Installing and configuring hardware and software.
Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.
Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
Coordinating computer network access and use for remote sites for customers to access through VPN
Troubleshooting technical issues, diagnosing, and repairing faults.
Managing and resolving network issues for all our network installations though Amazon EC2
Speaking to customers to quickly get to the root of their problem.
Providing timely and accurate customer feedback and following up with clients to ensure the problem is resolved.
Providing support in the form of procedural documentation.
Testing and evaluating new technologies.
Conducting electrical safety checks on equipment.
Network Engineer Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus.
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers, file servers, DNS / VPN severs, as well as Amazon EC2 servers.
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Dependable and flexible when necessary.
Network security experience.
LAN and WAN experience.
Certification in Microsoft, Linux, or Cisco is advantageous.
Prior experience in tech support, desktop support, or a similar role.
Proficiency in Windows/Linux/Mac OS.
