The 2018 Governor’s Office Homeland Security Table Top Exercise held in preparation for the December 8, 2018 Army-Navy Game, the fourth in the recent history of the football classic meeting, agreed to move forward with a proof of concept installation of a drone detection system.
The Lincoln Financial Field (home of the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles) and their security team agreed to the deployment of the system to increase security around the playing field and the surrounding Philadelphia Sports Complex.

The complex also features the Wells Fargo Center and the Citizens Bank Park (home of the Philadelphia Phillies).
Unmanned Systems and Solutions (USaS) and Digital Global Systems (DGS) worked with security and stadium officials to install the system several days prior to the Saturday game, providing detection of drones launched anywhere within the Philadelphia Sports Complex.
DGS deployed a combination of omni-directional and directional antennas around the perimeter of Lincoln Financial Field to provide tailored coverage for long-distance and close-in detection.

DGS CLEARSKY™ Drone Threat Management solution detects drones at distances exceeding 2 kilometers and classifies the drone’s capability within 2 seconds. CLEARSKY™ baselines the RF environment from 50 MHz to 6 GHz and detects drones anywhere in this frequency range, not just the common 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands. Its deep learning engine creates masks of the environment at specific periods in time and uses these masks to look for anomalous signals in the current environment. This makes it ideally suited for deployment in an ever-changing RF environment like a sports stadium, where wireless activity is vastly increased on game days. Security personnel are visually notified if drones are detected, where the location of the drone and the pilot are displayed on the CLEARSKY™ user interface. Additionally, text messages and emails can be sent to stakeholders when drones are detected. For facilities and events with the authority to defend against drone threats under the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, DGS offers a variety of drone mitigation solutions.
