“Beltsville firm raises $3.5 million to add contracts, launch anti-drone tech”

A Beltsville technology company plans to use $3.5 million in new funding to grow its staff and expand on its national and international contracts. Digital Global Systems Inc., or DGS, has raised about $21 million in funding since the company was formed over four years ago, including $9.55 million last year. According to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, 49 investors participated in the most recent round.

Fernando Murias, CEO of DGS, said this round will help the company continue to grow revenue and expand on its contract work with commercial and government organizations in the U.S. and abroad. DGS will also be hiring additional software developers and radio frequency engineers to add to its about 30-person staff. Murias did not disclose the company’s revenue — though he noted the company has seen “exponential growth” over the past few years — or the number of contracts DGS is currently working on. DGS specializes in providing spectrum monitoring services for telecom companies, to help wireless carriers improve their network performance. The company also provides critical asset protection, using technology to closely monitor wireless environments and help protect particular assets, like stadiums or airports. Murias said DGS has also been developing drone mitigation technology to help locate drones that could pose a potential threat and bring them down safely. He said DGS will be launching this tech by the end of the first quarter this fiscal year.

“One Source for National Infrastructure and Critical Asset Protection”
Digital Global Systems CEO

Our strategy is to get the RF knowledge in the hands of the user faster, automatically, and in an easy to understand format. A distributed and interconnected nodal network is deployed to protect a particular geography: be it a seaport, border, convoy, or high-risk asset. Leveraging our patented spectrum learning systems, our nodes quickly and autonomously create a baseline of any spectral environment, following which, they identify signals that don’t belong or that deviate from this baseline.

DGS systems combines content from various structured and unstructured data sources which provides a much higher level of situational awareness and threat detection. “With our technology, security agencies can monitor remote areas automatically and detect interference and anomalies, with no manpower requirement on site.” “Our solution delivers alerts to their command center when an RF signal persists near one of these facilities.” This feature provides a level of situational intelligence not currently available, without the need to deploy additional manpower.
