Core Features

Scanning

FFT Based Analysis and Scanning

SigBase software utilizes Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT’s) for signal analysis and signal classification. FFT scanning and analysis allows for improved processing speeds and the ability to capture transient signals over wider spans as compared to traditional sweeping technology. The frequency span depends on the unit model and antenna array, however it typically ranges from 70 MHz to 6 GHz.

Automatic Signal Detection

The DGS patented Automatic Signal Detection (ASD) process automatically differentiates between important signals and noise, even in complex spectral environments.  This process allows for signal information to be utilized in near real-time operations and characterized more effectively.

Analysis

Self-Learning

The learning function enables the system to build channels over time. Signal inventories, patterns and trends are analyzed overtime and stored. Anomalous signals can be better detected with a baseline serving as the basis of comparison.

Unit Location & Interference Geolocation

SigBase units are equipped with GPS. Latitude and Longitude data at the point of collection are stored in the on-board database. With three or more linked SigBase units, users can unleash a powerful Geolocation feature that places the location signals of interest on a mapping interface.

Regulatory Database Matching

SigBase platforms contain a database comprised of data points extracted from the FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS). Signals found in the environment are automatically matched to ULS data based on location allowing SigBase to provide details on expiration dates, call signs, emissions designators tower locations, and more.

Data Capture and Management

Local and Cloud Data Storage

SigBase units are equipped with an amount of on-board storage based on the particular model. SigBase effectively and automatically transfers the desired set of data from the internal hard drive to the cloud, or any other server environment where additional analytics can occur or for data retention purposes.

FFT Data Capture & Spectral Replay

SigBase FFT capture function allows the operator to replay recorded waveforms (Spectral Replay), supplying additional intelligence for signals of interest. Signal characteristics such as center frequency, power, bandwidth and duration can also be derived. Utilizing historical records derived by the Automatic Signal Detection feature, in combination with FFT captures, provides a comprehensive view of the spectrum.

I/Q Data Capture

Depending on the particular SigBase system utilized, the capture of I/Q data can be made available. With the Automatic Signal Detection feature generating and storing external signal data and FFT data storing highly resolute power data, the I/Q capture function adds a third dimension, enabling further examination of the internals of a signal.

Survey

SigBase platform catalogs data utilizing a survey methodology defined in units of time with associated signal and location data. Structuring data as surveys, enables one, or multiple operators to find specific data efficiently from larger data sets.

Reporting

Automated Alarm & Triggers Configuration

SigBase platform enables the operator to program parameters and tolerances into the system regarding power usage, duration, bandwidth and occupancy. When measurement data exceeds the established parameters, alarm notifications (triggers) are sent to up to 10 individuals by e-mail or text message.

Some triggers and alarms include:

Power Trigger – Can help find signal bursts causing interference
Frequency Trigger – Can help detect signal activity on frequencies which should return no activity.
Bandwidth Trigger – Can help find signals that encroach on a frequency span
Duration Trigger – Can help with spectrum clearing to make sure there are no active signals within a frequency span
Delta from Baseline – Can help determine when real-time spectrum data differs from a baseline that has been gathered over time, or gathered during a previous collection.

With custom development, triggers can also be utilized to initiate additional functions such as IQ recording and Geolocation.

Static Reports

SigBase software is equipped with multiple reports in order to provide more actionable data to the operator. Currently, these reports include:

Occupancy – The occupancy percentage based on the amount of time surveyed presented in graphic and table formats.
Occupancy + FCC – The occupancy percentage integrated with FCC data such as the licensee, FRN number, emissions mask, ERP, and more.
Signal Activity – The occupancy percentage over a specified time for an individual signal.
Power/Time – Data is channelized by center frequency and bandwidth as well as organized by a selected period of time.
Power/Frequency – The overall activity over a defined frequency span displayed by a defined channel.
Power Usage Report – The overall activity of power utilization by frequency span.
Variance Report – Compare multiple times and locations to determine irregularities.

Additional reports can be developed for the user. The reports listed above (excluding the inter-modulation report) are available as static reports on standard SigBase devices. Dynamic reports and customized reports are available on SigBase Portal – the system’s web based platform.

Correlated Reports

SigBase can report on multiple events that occur in a spectral environment that are associated or linked. For example, multiple transmits can create harmonics and intermodulation leading to interference.
